About Alex Bevan

Alex Bevan is recognised as a leading arbitrator for complex cases.  With over 25 years of experience, Alex’s principal expertise is in construction and engineering disputes, particularly in the energy, transport and technology sectors.

Alex spent 23 years at Shearman & Sterling, where he was appointed Global Head of International Arbitration.  Following the merger of Shearman & Sterling with A&O, Alex was appointed Global Co-Head of International Arbitration and also Co-Head of the Energy and Infrastructure Sector practice at A&O Shearman.   Alex has particular expertise in the Middle East region, having spent over a decade in Abu Dhabi, where he was Shearman & Sterling’s managing partner.

Alex sits as arbitrator in disputes seated all over the world, administered by all the leading arbitral institutions.  He sits as chair, sole arbitrator and co-arbitrator.  The leading directories recognise Alex as a top practitioner. Lexology lists Alex as a ‘Thought Leader’ in both its Arbitration category and its Construction category, reporting that he is “Simply one of the best in the industry” with a “huge amount of experience representing clients in the infrastructure, energy, and oil and gas sectors”.
